Q: When does online registration open and close?
A: Registration is now open and closes at midnight on Wednesday, May 15th.
Q: Is this race capped?
A: Yes! The race is capped at 500 registrants.
Q: What is the course like?
A: Amazing!! This is our most scenic course. Check out the preview video of the course here. It is quite hilly though!
Q: Where should I stay on San Juan Island?
A: There are lots and lots of options. You’ve got your hotels, your camping, your AirBnB, your VRBO, or you can always stay in Anacortes the night before and catch the 6:20am ferry over. The race starts at 8:45am, so you’ve got plenty of time.
Q: I can’t do the race! What are my options?
A: Not to worry, you’ve got options. Click here to see what they are.
Q: Do I have to stay overnight?
A: Nope. But you will want to have reservations on one of the earliest ferries in the morning.
Q: Why is this race more expensive than other Orca Running races?
A: The San Juan Island Half costs considerably more to produce due to it’s location.
Q: Are there restrooms on the course?
A: Yes. Please check the Race Info page, under ‘Course’ for details.
Q: Where should I park?
A: Please see the Race Info page for details on parking and shuttles.
Q: What should my family do while I run?
A: Cheer you on, of course. If they tire of supporting you in your athletic endeavors, then we’d recommend driving to the Cattle Point Lighthouse and enjoying the view.
Q: What is there to do on the island?
A: So much! Whale watching, The Whale Museum, relive the Pig War, eat delicious food, enjoy unique art, wander Friday Harbor…there’s tons to do.
Q: Are walkers allowed?
A: Yes! As long as you are under the course time limit (4 hours).
Q: Is there a course time limit?
A: Yup, it’s 4 hours.
Q: Are dogs allowed?
A: Dogs are not allowed. The liability insurance for the race through USA Track and Field does not cover dogs, so please leave your four-legged companions at home for this one.
Q: Are running strollers allowed?
A: Strollers are allowed. The parent/guardian who is going to push the stroller should, when registering for the race, indicate as such and agree to abide by our stroller policy (See Race Info page for Stroller Policy).
Q: How can I confirm that I am signed up?
A: You should have received a confirmation email when you signed up. You can also check your credit/debit card statement, or email us to verify.
Q: Is there an age limit?
A: Minors are welcome to participate. Please see the Youth Participation Policy in our Race Policies HERE for participation and registration requirements.
